Weekend away.

Henry, Bryn and Jay took to the road this past weekend and headed north to Lake Sherwood. They left me at home to do some much needed cleaning, running and relaxing with friends, while they frolicked in the sand with Grandma and Grandpa. The water is still low so they made use of all the extra sand to play with. All the better for burying Grandma's feet, I see.
Of course our nature lovers did find some clams to inspect, helped grandpa with the leaf tarp, played in their tent and flew their first kites! Exhausting, huh?
Although it was nice to actually get something accomplished here at home, it was even better to get them back home again.

Wet, muddy fun!

Needless to say, our rainy weather has made Henry and Bryn a pretty sweet mud hole in the backyard. Henry first discovered it while his sis was still napping and I was trying to pull weeds(don't even get me started) while following him around the mucky yard. He got so wet that I stripped him down on the front porch before we headed in to check on Bryn and put some waterproof boots on. They were so proud of the fact that they got their boots on themselves I didn't have the heart to put them on the "right" feet. I did get some great video of the two of them splashing and dancing in circles. Bryn didn't enjoy the cold mud on her hands so she quickly found my jeans and jacket and wiped away. By the time Jay got home, we had to bribe Henry with food to come back inside.

First Car Wash

Well, maybe we should refer to it as "first cement wash" since Henry felt it needed a cleaning much more than the car. He of course had to give Bryn a couple pointers in technique since he figured it out first. She listened to his instructions and quickly ran over to Mary's car to give it good brush. The best part of the day was rolling up the pants like mommy and hosing down the feet!

Crossing the border

The Little's first trip to Minnesota for Jen and Shawn's wedding shower was a success!! We all survived the trip and had lots of fun meeting Shawn's Minnesota family. Henry especially loved the basket of goody gifts. Of course he assumed that they were all for him and didn't quite understand the one gift per person rule. Bryn had fun watching all the action around her and started practicing her dice throws with Grandma.

Nothing like some take -out burgers for dinner on the floor of the hotel!

Yippee, a pool!!!!

Ring-around-the-Rosie, pool style.

They both love to sit on the edge of a pool and then count to three and jump off. Any time Bryn wanted to do it again she would start chanting "One, two, one, two, one two." Here is Henry making a leap into Jay's arms.

Checking out the courtyard. Henry, thinking he's got his hands in his pockets!

Boy at work.

For whatever reason Henry got a kick out of "raking" the driveway.

Lewis and Clark Part Two

There is a pretty cool childrens park in our neighborhood that is part natural wonderland filled with geological formations that make for interesting exploring. Both Bryn and Henry are fascinated with pine cones, sticks, and most of all, rocks.

Wednesday playdate

The weather didn't exactly cooperate with our plans of an outdoor picnic with Aidyn and Hadley ,so us moms brought the picnic indoors instead. Still can't believe that all four actually sat still without being strapped in for most of the meal. Of course my two then had to scavenge the left-overs that their friends didn't swallow in time.

Thanks Bryn

So, we got a call from our nanny, Amber, yesterday afternoon that she couldn't work today since she was sick. So, after I called clinic to reschedule patients I told Bryn and Henry that I was going to stay at home with them today and that dad would go to work. Bryn, who had been snuggling on my lap, looked at me and said, "Daddee home, Mommee buh-bye."

Sweet pic of the week

Monday, Henry's favorite thing to do was to try to make his sister laugh. He was tickling, burping and tooting all at the same time. Needless to say, it worked. What a ham!

Quick kid

Bryn has developed the knack of slipping herself into her highchair in a matter of seconds. I have never seen how she finally gets planted in the chair itself since I am usually busy tending to Henry, Finn or the forever dirty kitchen floor. This particular time I could hear her groaning cause she couldn't figure out how to get that big shoe of hers under the rail. Nope, Henry doesn't see the fun in climbing in his. He waits (not patiently of course), till we hoist him in. Sometimes he is a dare devil and stands on the first rung.....

As a side note, you can see that the lapstrap is buckled underneath the chair. Both Henry and Bryn have this urge to keep that darn strap buckled at all times. As soon as they are lifted out of the chairs they either race to the other's chair or work on their own until it's buckled. Then they wipe their hands and leave it alone. A job well done, I guess.

I think we have all had enough of winter, so this past weekend we spent as much time outside as we possibly could. We biked over to Vilas Park and let Bryn and Henry do their thing. Bryn's "thing" is to climb up any staircase, ladder or climbing apparatus and then find her way to the nearest (or farthest) slide. She could do it all day, and the static electricity she generates is shocking. Henry's "thing" is to take off in search of ducks, geese or any wild animal. I think he inherited his dad's fear of heights, so he tends to stay off the play structures and keeps himself happy finding something to step off of. Funny little creature, they are!!
