We had two little lakes at our disposal, with canoes on both, a rowboat on the smaller one and a paddle boat on the bigger one.
A little drama followed us from home, and Henry somehow had a "shaving" accident in the shower with mommy's razor and shaved a little portion of his lip, which finally stopped bleeding after an hour or so and he was then quite proud to sport his new Bandaid mustache (but it did impede on mealtimes....)
We spent some time trying to catch a few fish, and Bryn was all in. She kept suggesting we all go out fishing, and at one point observed "Hey look! My worm's doing the splits!" Henry had fun fishing until he would get a bite, then a look of pure panic covered his face as he worried that the fish would tug too hard and pull him in.
H and B loved hanging out at this little table on the porch each morning, cranking out art projects and eating their breakfasts.
We jumped in the car on a rainy day and headed up to the Lake Superior shore and spent a little time way up in Bayfield. What a cool little town. Here's Bryn pointing toward Canada.
Here you can see the aftermath of Henner's lip fiasco while out for a little spin in the paddle boat. One of the coolest surprises was a family of 4 river otter that also called the lake home and were popping up at random times checking in on us!
Here's the sunset from the smaller lake. Now that we're home and back into the routine, our minds keep wandering back to those lazy days when the kiddos got all of our attention. It felt great to call a timeout on life and just spend some serious family time together away from it all...

Looks and sounds fabulous! Of course you'd find a cabin with it's own two lakes, boats, etc. We'll have you book our next trip:).
Thanks for sharing your great vacation pictures...what a fun, relaxing time for all of you! Thanks also for taking time for a few days at our cabin after your week "Up North". Love the blog-top picture of the goggled kiddos charging into Lake Sherwood for a swim!
Love, Grandma and Grandpa Affeldt
What a wonderful vacation for Henry & Bryn to remember for a long long time!!
