Good bye to Daddy day care.......

As the summer winds down and we find ourselves wondering where it all went, I have to give thanks to someone who truly deserves it. Thanks Jay for being such a great dad to Bryn and Henry as I worked my three days a week at the hospital. Thank you for teaching them how to roll down the "Liz Waters" hill towards Lakeshore path giggling the entire way down. Thank you for giving them a tour of the legislative chambers at the Capitol and trucking up and down State St. with a stop at Pizza di Roma to top it off. Thank you for not wasting your summer trying to potty train them but instead helping us find the most perfect beach to hang out this summer. Thank you for building forts with blankets even if they were pulled apart within seconds. Thank you for teaching them how to make homemade bread and showing them by example that daddies can be great cooks. Bryn and Henry had a blast!

.... and Hello to Mammabapa

Most of you know that this Christmas we received the most generous gift from Jay's parents. As they were anticipating Karyl's retirement they announced that they had thought it over and wanted to come to our house and take care of Bryn and Henry on the days I work. We really didn't believe it at first since it is no small undertaking to keep these two in line some days so we gave them several months to change their mind but they never budged on their original offer. I think what we worry the most about is that they will one day be brought to tears (which I hate to say has happened to me on more than one occasion) and wonder what the heck they were thinking last Christmas.

They started their new job this week and so far it's been heavenly. Is there such a think as a honeymoon phase? I sure hope not. Somehow they are teaching them their colors which neither Jay nor I have figured out how to do. In fact Bryn has always had an order in which she answered all colored related ?'s. It's always blue first, then green, yellow and pink. But as we sat down for dinner last night with MammaBapa they correctly identified mamma's purple shirt, bapa's red shirt and my pink sweater. Go figure. They love the adventures they have already gone on, like trips to the zoo and Children's Museum, flinging Koosh balls in the front yard for chasing and somehow finding the Oscar Meyer weinermobile.

Mammabapa, how can we ever repay you?

You repay us by being such special little people, who make us smile and laugh every day we're together, and we're so happy that we can hang out together three days every week. We had lots of fun this week, and we'll have lots more adventures too. We're proud of you and we love you all (Mommy and Daddy too!)! Mammabapa
