Littles first trip to IOWA!

SO, back in the day, Shannon and the rest of the UW marching band used to sing a pretty little diddy about the state of Iowa. I won't repeat it here but some of you may know what I'm talking about. Well, although we did see plenty of corn on our drive, there was plenty to enjoy when we got to cute little Grinnell. Jay and I still haven't recovered from the shock of how quiet a small town can be. Not like we are big city folks here in Madison but I can count on my hand how many cars drove down their street for the entire weekend. I think I may go there just to relax.

Anyway, we had to check out Shannon, Bruce and Liam's new digs! Their first house is great and has so much potential with plenty of wonderful ideas of what to work on next from both of them. Reminds Jay and me of our never ending house projects. We got tours of both of their new jobs and did a complete walking tour of campus, downtown Grinnell and some sweet children's parks. Did I mention how quiet it was? Bryn and Henry both started experimenting with new ways to freak mom out, as they were climbing on structures way above my head as I held my breath trying to keep them both in sight.

Here is Liam, the walking machine. Doesn't matter how often or how hard he may fall to the ground and he is back up and trucking ahead! He was much more interersted in Finn and Cooper than his cousins at times. I don't blame him at all. Hope he didn't take any notes while they whined and whined at meal time.

Liam is making sure that Bryn doesn't fling herself off the 4 person teeter totter.
The big boys at play.

Henry in one stroller, Liam in the other and Bryn riding high on uncle "buces" shoulders.

The life of a professor. You go girl! So proud of my little sis and her job as a microbiology professor. Can't say I understand half of what she studies, but I did get slightly envious at the windows she has in her office and her lab.
Now, I trip to Grinnell isn't complete without a walk to the Dari Barn. Interesting spelling, must me an "Iowa thing". It gets better... the ice cream shop is next to a farm implement business. Henry enjoyed taking a peek at all the huge tractors and I ended up covered in ice cream. Could be worse.

Thank you to Shannon, Bruce and Liam for putting up with our shenanigans and hosting us for the weekend.
