Jay's high school decided to kick things up a notch for their annual Light of Life walk and fundraiser for cancer. A cross country runner's mom was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer so her daughter wanted to do something special to honor everything her mother has done for her. She talked to Jay and they came up with a plan to have teachers sign up to shave their heads once a certain amount of money was raised. In years past, they usually raise about $1500 to at the most $5000. 31 teachers signed up at different levels, the lowest set at $2000. They easily broke the first mark and by Wednesday, the day of the walk, they had raised over $11,000! Jay was at the $2000 mark and he let Corrina, one of the captains do the honors of shaving his head. Bryn, Henry and I came to watch daddy go bald.
This is my favorite pic. The girls decided on a reverse Mohawk (aka male pattern bald man). They made him do the warmup run looking like this! Oh did I mention that Jay dyed his hair the night before? Ya, it normally isn't this yellow/platinum.....
Henry, who had become mister social butterfly, headed to the middle of the stretching circle to stretch with the girls!!
