When the kids heard that the weekend we were heading to Grinnell for Liam's birthday was also the weekend of a family triathalon, they were pumped. Bryn kept asking me if she would have to wake up super early and I didn't understand why until she mentioned something about the Ironman. Since we have watched the Ironman Wisconsin, which takes place in Madison, for the last couple years and we leave our house biking downtown while it's still dark, she assumed she was running 26.2 miles! Luckily it's geared for the non-serious athlete and was totally kid friendly and we could pick whatever distance we wanted. I swam (barely got in the water before I was out shivering again), then Henry flew off on his bike (thanks to Uncle Bruce and Liam who biked along side him until hid turnaround) and then B bop ran. Team Badger made up of Shannon the dolphin, Liam and Bruce the speedster bikers and Shannon and Liam running the last leg! Oh yeah, I also gave the boys a mohawk for the big event, just to scare off the competition!
Our little H town. He came by so fast on his bike my picture was a blur so I got the back end of him!
Bryn was happy to run holding Liam's hand as they finished running a couple laps around the track. We all got a medal, bag, t-shirt and lunch and the kids all won something in the drawing! Hope they do this again on Liam's birthday next year.
Birthday boy Liam turned 5 and is now the proud owner of a Packer cheesehead!!!
Mom and dad hanging with Rose at Liam's birthday party. She went from person to person the whole afternoon and kept on smiling!
